CRIBS FOR KIDS

Every year in our country, nearly 4,000 sudden unexpected infant deaths occur due to unsafe sleeping environments. Many such tragedies could be prevented by sharing the infant safe sleep message, and educating parents on the risks of accidental deaths from asphyxia, suffocation and Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS). The mission of Cribs for Kids is to provide support to families that have lost infants due to a sleep-related death; educate the general public and health professionals about infant sleep-related death and how they can reduce the risk; and promote and support research into these deaths that are the number one cause of infant death after the first month of age.

Since 1998, through safe sleep education and the donation of thousands of Graco Pack 'n Play portable cribs, Cribs for Kids® has been making an impact on the rates of babies dying of sleep-related death due to accidental suffocation, asphyxia, strangulation, and SIDS. This is accomplished by educating parents on the importance of practicing safe sleep and by providing cribs to families who cannot, otherwise, afford a safe place for their babies to sleep. Cribs for Kids® currently has more than 600 Partner Programs throughout the country modeling this infant safe sleep initiative
