The Volunteer Interfaith Caregiver Program (VICaP) is one of the few providers of critical
transportation and caregiver services for the most vulnerable people in the region.  Its ability to provide services is dependent on the financial resources it receives from local funders, donations from concerned citizens and the support of its volunteers.  VICaP has witnessed the expansion of frail elderly and infirmed populations in Southeastern Arizona, it has see volunteers go from workers to clients. Calls for services increase each year, as does the inability of many of our  Neighbors to perform basic activities of daily living.  People are living longer, yet as they age, they refuse to give up their independence or their quality of life.  VICaP is a major player in the community, it is an organization that offers a very low-cost life-line that allows people to remain in their homes and avoid costly placement in a nursing home or other
institutional care facility.

Our neighbors frequently request VICaP services after a life changing event which limits their independence. Trained VICaP volunteers work together to provide services to our neighbors without charge.

The VICaP office receives between 100 and 200 calls for service per month. 50 volunteers responded to 1523 calls for assistance and accrued 5500 volunteer service hours in 2012. All of our trained volunteers provide their services free of charge.
