Providing affordable access to high-quality live theatre in our community is Silicon Valley Shakespeare’s core value. Our productions are free to the public or have very affordable tickets. Youth 17 and under attend every show free of charge!

Our dedicated, local artists create work that is innovative, illuminating, and inspiring. We connect classic theatre (Shakespeare and other works) to modern audiences in a way that is relevant and inspires them to make theatre a part of their cultural lives. Our mantra is “Innovate • Illuminate • Inspire!”

• We shed light on the classics through fresh interpretations to open eyes, expand minds, and foster a love of theatre in our community. By providing high-quality and affordable theatrical experiences and educational programs, we reach a diverse audience and build a new generation of theatregoers.

• We create art that touches people on a personal level, is a reflection of the world in which we live, and inspires people to play a role in the arts community as an artist, audience member, donor, or volunteer. 

Why Shakespeare? There is a commonality of human experience inherent in Shakespeare’s plays. His plays resonate with the thoughts, feelings, and experiences of today’s audiences. We make the classics accessible to our audience by interpreting Shakespeare without diluting it. We stay true to the poetry of the language and make theatre that is both meaningful and entertaining.

Our Education Program promotes participation in theatre, which cultivates a broad set of skills, applicable to many areas of life, such as cooperation, teamwork, self-reliance, creativity, resourcefulness, empathy, time and project management, problem solving, and communication. Involvement in arts activities enhances self-esteem, especially among students from low-income areas where such activities are often not available within the standard school curriculum or are available only at high cost.
