Simpson County Guild of Artists and Craftsmen Ltd

The Gallery has long been a place to meet, create and build community.  We host concerts, weddings and celebrations. Our Coffee Spot area welcomes thinking, reading, chatting and free WiFi.  We have a variety of groups who meet here: knitters, dulcimer players, painters, the Pinterest Club and the Fine Print Book Club. 

A large part of our focus has been on our belief that a true love and appreciation of the arts starts with educating and promoting participation in various art forms at an early age.

The Simpson County Guild of Artists and Craftsmen now has a Young Artist division. We are extremely pleased to announce that we are welcoming young artists to apply for Guild membership. The Young Artist Guild’s age range for acceptance is from age 13 to 18. 

Throughout the school year, teachers are asked to select one student a month to to display their work at the Gallery for our ongoing student of the month exhibit.

Every year in March and April for the last 24 years the work of our talented young artists in Franklin, Simpson County is on display at the Gallery.  Each teacher selects 50 works from their classes throughout the year.  We hold a special reception for the show where the community can come and admire our local talent.

During exhibits, the Gallery regularly organizes free workshops for our youth that relate to the work on exhibit. JUst some examples are: At our glass show we had free workshops on making mosaic, stained glass and making your own glass marble; At our fiber show, we had free hands-on workshops on making felted soap, spinning and needle felting. Also, we have seasonal workshops geared toward youth.  

The Gallery On The Square hosts six shows a year of original art by regional artists. Diverse media such as 2-D painting, photography,  pottery, wood carvings, textile art and glass art are presented in this historic downtown environment for the public’s pleasure.
