Since 2003 sjDANCEco, San José’s Professional Dance Company has; celebrated LIFE through movement with more than 24,000 members of our community during our Festival at Santana Row, given opportunity to more than 9000 dance artists during our bi-annual ChoreProject Awards and On the Edge programs, guided some 600 plus young aspirants in the Mentoring Program at Independence High and performed for nearly 10,000 in our fall seasons at the California Theatre with Masterpieces and Dances of Mad Genius.

Believing, like President John F. Kennedy, that the arts make an important contribution to the human spirit and to our American Society, each dancer who joins our organization is nurtured through sjDANCEco’s opportunities and has experiences with their art that they firmly believe are important. They want to share this extraordinary ‘Gift of Dance’ with audiences and members of their community. They are giving back and making significant contributions to our city, region and world through their dedication and hard work.

Raphaël Boumaïla, *20 yrs. a Principal Dancer with the Limón Dance Company/NYC, * 2011-12 recipient of the Isadora Duncan Award for Restaging of José Limón’s The Moor’s Pavane

Heather Cooper, *Founding member, dancer, choreographer, *Artistic Director of REACH BC Dance Company and New Director of the Dance Program at SJSU
