San Jose Stage Company

Now in our 33rd Season, San Jose Stage Company is recognized as the South Bay’s leading professional theatre company. Under the leadership of Co-founder and Artistic Director, Randall King, The Stage has earned a reputation for artistic excellence through provocative and edgy theatrical experiences that spark ideas and dialogue with the audience.

We're extremely proud of our award-winning work created by many talented actors, designers and directors, having earned seven nominations and two Bay Area Theatre Critics Circle awards including "Outstanding Production" for Death of a Salesman in 2016; seven Theatre Bay Area Award nominations in 2015; four Theatre Bay Area Awards in 2014, including "Best Musical Production of the Year" for The Threepenny Opera, a "Standout Adult Contemporary Production" award for Venus in Fur and the "Standout Classical Production" by Silicon Valley Theatre Awards.

We're dedicated to the development and presentation of new works, with a concentration on American literature, and world classics that illuminate the human condition and speak to the hopes and fears of all mankind. Over the last 33 years, we've produced 163 productions, including 15 world premieres and 47 new works. With the farthest seat in the house no more than 15 feet from the three-quarter thrust stage, the connection between actor and audience is profoundly visceral. 

Attracting more than 30,000 patrons to downtown and employing more than 150 local artists annually, The Stage continues to be a vital force in the region’s economic and creative landscape. As a strong community partner, we've been the creative home for more than 500 performance groups including San Jose Jazz and Notre Dame High School - working together to engage, provoke, and inspire current and future theatre participants and arts advocates.

Located in the SoFA area, the gateway to the city’s arts and entertainment district, San Jose Stage Company was the first arts anchor organization. We continue to promote San Jose’s stature as a burgeoning regional arts center by providing live theatre experiences that enrich the community’s quality of life and strengthen the common spirit through the understanding of our fellow man.
