Destinee is a 16 year old girl who suffers from anxiety and drug abuse issues. She started using methamphetamines, was acting out emotionally, and had thoughts of hurting herself and suicide. She was expelled from school for possession of marijuana, and began shoplifting, as well as sneaking out of the house to do drugs. While living in a mental health facility, she ran away and was found 3 days later with a man in Reno. When Destinee’s family applied for a grant from STLF, she was enrolled in a mental health hospital and was going to be released the next day. Because of the $10,000 grant STLF awarded, Destinee was able to go directly to the safe and welcoming environment of a wilderness therapy program.

“Our family would like to thank Sky’s The Limit Fund for the opportunity to be able to send our daughter to a wilderness therapy program. This program would not have been available to our family due to financial difficulties and insurance not covering wilderness based programs. Our family has been looking into getting help for her but every door we tried to open was not open or we did not meet the criteria for their program. Our emotions were drained and it felt like we were at the end of our rope...  Sky’s The Limit Fund was the silver lining in the stress that has been over-taking our family. After completing the applications and having an interview with some amazing women, the stress started to leave.  The focus was moved from trying to find help to having help and working on the solution. We are entirely grateful for what Sky’s The Limit has done for our family.” – Destinee’s Step-father

"I got off the trail a few months ago. I honestly have to say that it was the most life-changing thing I've been through. I've been to many programs, but this one showed me a heart at peace. That's the only way I can explain it...I now truly have a heart at piece and it's wonderful. I am so grateful for Sky’s the Limit Fund! Sure love all of ya!"  -Destinee
