At Smart Policy Works, our mission is to break down barriers to health and well-being. Launched during the era of welfare reform, we worked to connect people to a vital lifeline- social security disability income programs. Since then, we have grown into an independent, non-partisan policy institute with 25 years of experience working with organizations, government, and partners to improve the way that our public systems work for all of us. Our staff members bring their experiences as legal experts, healthcare providers, military veterans, case managers, policy wonks, and data analysts and they bring both their brains and their hearts to our work.
