San Mateo-Foster City Community Education Foundation

The San Mateo-Foster City Education Foundation is the only organization that supports the education of children in all of San Mateo and Foster City's 20 elementary and middle public schools.

The current focus of the Foundation is music education in all schools. In partnership with the District, the Education Foundation funds a Kindergarten through 4th grade program, 5th grade instrumental and vocal music instruction and middle school bands and orchestras.

With increasing student enrollment, the number of 5th graders has exceeded the number of available instruments. The Foundation would like to purchase musical instruments to provide every 5th grader the opportunity to learn to play an instrument.

The San Mateo-Foster City School District serves 12,500 students in preschool through 8th grade. Our population is diverse and 30% of our students are socio-economically disadvantaged. By supporting and advocating for all of the schools in the District, the Foundation can take advantage of economies of scale and shared resources to do much more than our schools can do on their own.
