Left unchecked, the federal government buried thousands of leaking barrels of nuclear waste in shallow pits over the Snake River aquifer -- Idaho’s sole source aquifer. It intentionally pumped billions of gallons of lethal nuclear sludge into Idaho’s groundwater. In 1979, a group of courageous Idahoans discovered Three Mile Island waste was going to be dumped in Idaho, and Snake River Alliance was born. 

For over 40 years, the Snake River Alliance has been the only organization in Idaho dedicated to protecting Idaho from becoming the nation’s nuclear waste dump. We are committed to breaking the nuclear weapons and energy industry’s stranglehold on this country’s future. We are currently the only organization in Idaho working towards nuclear weapons abolishment. Join us!

100% renewable energy is the future. Our Solarize the Valley campaign provided solar bids to more than 400 families, helped over 120 households go solar, and invested more than $2.5 million into the local economy. We are for closing coal plants and replacing them with renewables and efficiency! Join us!
