Society of Physician Entrepreneurs Foundation

The SoPE Foundation is the fundraising arm of the Society of Physician Entrepreneurs, the largest physician-led, nonprofit biomedical and healthcare innovation network in the world based in Denver, Colo. It seeks $250,000 in donations to develop educational programs and events and support biomedical and health innovators appling for the Innovation Scholars Program. SoPE was founded by three physicians and a medical association executive in early 2011. It has an extensive worldwide chapter network, but needs additional funding to further its mission of getting ideas to patients.

A SoPE co-founder realized the need for such an organization when he developed Memory Care Communities, a syndication of assisted-living facilities for Alzheimer and dementia patients. He had been through the devastating and debiliting care of his Alzheimer-afflicted father-in-law and wanted to build something with better care and dignity for patients. He had to search for the right people to help him put the right elements in place and spent more time and money than was necessary. SoPE created a global community that will accelerate medical innovation to patients around the world. Its education and network opportunities will help physician entrepreneurs go beyond better patient care to launch new businesses that promote job creation and increase global competitiveness.

SoPE is the only known organization founded and led by physicians with the specific purpose of provding support to those physicians and other medcal professionals on the front lines of delivering healthcare who need help in realizing their ideas, inventions and innovations.

It is the only go-to place to gain knowledge from and network with experienced medical professional entrepreneurs, as well as for learning about sources of education and support services available to help them pursue an entrepreneurial path.
