Since 1921, SSP has conveyed the excitement of all areas of science and research to the public through award-winning publications and world-class science education competitions.  SSP does this by engaging students, parents, teachers, and the public in the evolving and influential world of science.

SSP's vision is to promote the understanding and appreciation of science and the vital role it plays in human advancement: to inform, educate, and inspire.

SSP does this through:

  • The flagship publication, Science News, which provides crisp, concise coverage of all fields of science daily (www.sciencenews.org)
  • Science News for Students, the freely-accessible, award-winning youth edition and companion to Science News
  • Its three world-renowned science education programs: Intel Science Talent Search (formerly the Westinghouse Science Talent Search), the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair, and the Broadcom MASTERS middle school competition

SSP is proud that for over 90 years, its programs and publications have informed and inspired generations of science enthusiasts, including Nobel Laureates, National Medal of Science recipients, and nearly 50,000 other distinguished program alumni. SSP believes that educating and inspiring the young scientists of tomorrow, whose vision will usher in new solutions to global challenges, is vital to our common future.
