$25,000 Goal

HELP US REACH OUR GOAL OF $25,000!

Solar Austin’s mission is to accelerate the transition to clean, renewable energy in Central Texas and to expand access to the benefits of solar to everyone to mitigate climate change, create a healthy community, and support a strong local economy.

We all feel the effects of climate change. One of the fastest ways to act is to decarbonize our energy use by promoting solar across communities.
Support our efforts in raising $25,000 as part of the A Community Thrives initiative so we can be a more vocal leader for greater and faster adoption of solar across all the neighborhoods in Central Texas.

Currently, there is a need for a larger labor force that is diversified and representative of the communities it serves.

In 2019, we created our main initiative - the Equitable Clean Energy Jobs program, in partnership with Huston-Tillotson University (Austin's oldest HBCU) and local solar companies. We have been overwhelmed by the success and the value of this program to Austinites and to other cities in Texas, and we have expanded our programming to include our "Pathways to Clean Energy Careers" program and solar installation camps starting this fall!

Your support is essential to ensuring the continued success of this solar initiative! Thanks to our amazing community of solar advocates, Solar Austin has already secured donated PV panels and the volunteered expertise of local electricians. Now we need your help going that last mile to cover the cost of the required power tools and safety installation equipment.

Our upcoming community installation projects, along with Solar Austin’s inclusive internship program and policy efforts, are focused on ensuring that the benefits of clean energy are equitably accessible to all. Thank you for being a part of our community!

With your support, we can foster a healthy 21st-century community by connecting business leaders, government institutions, universities, and our neighbors to:

  • Educate youth and homeowners on solar energy, EVs, and installation incentives

  • Elevate high school AND college students of underserved communities who want to participate in the Green Economy

  • Mentor companies on gaining a more diversified labor force

  • Improve energy resiliency for underserved communities

  • Install solar systems at community centers and common areas

  • Promote more ambitious, climate-friendly policies for the State of Texas
