Our Mission:

We provide transformational experiences that empower our participants to become active learners and responsible stewards of their community and its environment!

What We Do:

Explore > Achieve > Lead.  It's what we do!

Since our inception in 2011, Selkirk Outdoor Leadership & Educaiton (SOLE), Inc. has connected over 1200 local area youth to the outdoors through the transformational experiential and outdoor education programs that we offer. SOLE provides intentional, affordable, and accessible experiential and outdoor education programs for the communities of North Idaho, and beyond each year to include stand-alone and custom-tailored programs for those we serve.

Our Need:

SOLE's immediate community stakeholders in North Idaho are in need of your help!  With an average poverty rate of 60-97% most of our local area schools do not have the necessary means to afford intentional outdoor education programming for their students. Programming expenses required include, teaching materials, outdoor gear and equipment, logistical expenses, and busing students to our course locations.  These necessary expenses have since been identified as barriers for the schools that we serve.

SOLE's programs foster the ideal natural learning environment to immerse individuals in novel educational settings that address traditional academic needs, while simultaneously supporting the development of individual character, outdoor skills, leadership skills, environmental awareness, and future stewardship - fostering the opportunity for REAL transformation to occur through developing an affinity for nature and a sense of belonging now and for the future!

The choices that youth make set a trajectory for a lifetime. To assist youth reaching their true potential SOLE's aim is to provide these intentional experiential learning opportunities for youth to explore > achieve > lead!

Designing and facilitating intentional experiential and outdoor education is cost prohibitive, and therefore, serves as barrier for many local and regional youth to participate in the programming that we offer.

Funding will provide the necessary equipment and resources for these youth to have access to the transformation experiential and outdoor education programs we offer; however, we CANNOT do it without your help!
