Song Community Development Corporation

Sông Community Development Corporation is a nonprofit rooted in the Vietnamese American experience of New Orleans East, working to improve the quality of life for all BIPOC communities. Our work is grounded in justice, cultural preservation, and community leadership.

We partner directly with residents to advance equity across health, climate, food access, education, housing, workforce development, culture, and the arts.

Our Impact in Action:

Community Engagement
We are launching a comprehensive community needs assessment and hosting focus groups and neighborhood meetings to ensure residents shape the solutions that affect their lives.

Food Access & Food Justice
Through the VEGGI Farmers Cooperative, we provide culturally relevant, healthy food boxes to Vietnamese seniors each week while strengthening local food systems and economic opportunity.

Environmental Justice
In partnership with Healthy Gulf and green infrastructure leaders, we are developing projects along local waterways to manage stormwater, reduce nutrient runoff, and build climate resilience in New Orleans East.

Coalition Building & Small Business Support
We are relaunching the Villages of the East Coalition, bringing together nonprofits, faith-based organizations, and community partners to advance environmental and economic justice.

Affordable Senior Housing
Responding to long-standing post-Katrina housing needs, we are developing affordable senior housing in collaboration with national experts through the Urban Land Institute’s REDI program.
