Sons of Little Haiti (SOLH), is a 501(c)3, non-profit corporation located in Miami, Florida.
SOLH’s founder, a Hampton University Alumnus was born in Miami Beach and raised in Little Haiti. He is the youngest of 4 children to Haitian Immigrants. During the mid-80’s he enlisted into the US Army when he was 17 years old, leaving with the dream of returning home as a philanthropist to help his neighborhood and the community. After decades of working in schools, colleges and universities and non-profits, he returned to Miami-Dade to assist his elderly parents. After 30 years of education, research and work in the field of youth development and education, the result is the development of the Sons of Little Haiti, Inc. (SOLH/SOLH Academy).
SOLH’s Vision: Educate, Enrich, and Empower youth, primarily boys and young men, from Little Haiti and other underrepresented communities to include, Liberty City, Little Havana, Overtown, North Miami and more, in their development through community service; academic, social, and cultural mentoring.
SOLH understands the basic premise of “youth led and adult guided” and is dedicated to providing programs that will support positive growth and development. “We believe the children are our future, teach them well and let them lead the way…” to become future leaders and positive members of society.
Sadly, we are not under any illusions, we know some of our children are being assaulted emotionally, mentally and physically. That is why SOLH’s Purpose is to positively engage youth and young adults and minimize their involvement in risky behavior, through engagement in our Foundational Pillars: 1. Counseling and Therapy. 2. Manhood/Relationship Training. 3. Community Service. 4. Health and Nutrition. 5. Financial Literacy & Entrepreneurship. 6. College and Workforce Readiness. 7. Team Sports. 8. Mentorship.
SOLH's Foundational Pillars come together to build character, reinforce culture, instill confidence and ensure competence… while unlocking each individuals unique potential.
" It is easier to build strong children, than to repair broken men."
