Soroptimist International Big Bear Valley Inc.

Soroptimist International of Big Bear Valley Inc. began its mammogram program in the 1980s, and now we join forces with our 2014 Man About Town fundraising campaign to raise even more money for women in Big Bear who cannot afford a mammography screening. Women of Big Bear Valley are provided with the opportunity at low or no cost. A limited number of appointments are available. In addition, this year the club voted to use the monies raised to fund a Women’s Health Expo in early fall. It is our goal to have a “Free” event open to all women in the Big Bear Valley area. This event will include speakers, lunch and minor testing. The event will launch our Mammogram Program for 2014!

 

In partnership with Bear Valley Community Healthcare District, mammograms are provided for Big Bear Valley women who are uninsured, age 40 or older and who have not had a mammogram within the last 12 months. Every year over 200,000 American women are diagnosed with breast cancer.  Early detection of breast cancer vary depending on a woman’s age and risk, and include mammography and clinical breast examination (CBE).

During the year Soroptimist International of Big Bear Valley Inc. holds fundraisers to fund the program. Each $75 donated pays for a mammogram and could save a life.
