South Central Nebraska Childrens Chorale Inc

Help a child participate by donating to our scholarship fund. SCNCC provides both partial and full scholarships to those needing tuition assistance. 

The South Central Nebraska Children's Chorale, in residence at Hastings College, is an auditioned group of nearly 70 singers, with unchanged voices, from schools throughout South Central Nebraska.

Participants selected for the Chorale attend a 90 minute weekly rehearsal in Fuhr Hall of Music on the Hastings College Campus. The Chorale rehearses and perform a variety of music from all historical periods and styles.  Also offered is lab experience for the colleges elementary music majors as well as students in the Masters of Arts in Teaching program, who help assist with rehearsals and give presentations to the children pertaining to the music they are singing.  

The performance season includes Christmas and Spring formal concerts, informal concerts for parents and special performances within the community for conventions, meetings, and dinners. Chorale has been selected by taped audition and has been invited to sing in a variety of venues and events including Nebraska Music Educators Association conference / clinic, Nebraska Choral Directors convention, and Hastings Symphony Orchestra.  Chorale also participates in clinics / festivals with neighboring children's choirs, and to further their education, hosts guest clinicians.  Though we were unable to accept, a highlight of the 2013-14 season was an invitation to sing at Carnagie Hall in New York City. SCNCC has accepted an intvitation from Lincoln Choral Artists to join them in presenting "To Be Certain Of The Dawn" on May 4, 2014.
