For 10 years, the South Shore Chamber Orchestra (dba the South Shore Orchestra) has been dedicated to broadening horizons in Porter County and beyond.

It's true - we believe that music inspires innovation and capital ideas, development and growth.  Music brings communities together to share thoughts of understanding, equality, tolerance.  Your entire perspective on life may be changed after hearing a single piece of music.  Without a doubt, music remains a powerful force - and we are deeply passionate about it.

So why the SSO?

Our wonderful donors have allowed us to promote our passion for 10 years.  Because of our donors, the SSO has been able to sustain the following initiatives:

Accessibility: By keeping our ticket prices low, we aim to provide an excellent musical experience for all members of the Porter County community.  The SSO also facilitates several outreach initiatives involving artistic expression that have remained free to participants.

Education: We offer multiple opportunities for youth to get involved with music.  Through partnerships with our donors, the SSO has been able to sponsor a generous $2,500 scholarship for a dedicated, deserving high school senior.  The SSO also provides oversight to the South Shore Youth Orchestra, which primarily focuses on teaching the essential elements of music to children 14 and younger.

Cultural Diplomacy: The SSO has participated in 4 tours to China through an exchange program with Valparaiso University's Confucius Institute.  While on tour, the SSO has worked to foster better international relations and cultural understanding through the language of music.  We are also able to bring back new musical ideas to share with our audiences, leading to a richer, more vibrant experience.

Dynamic Programming: We love performing Beethoven and Brahms, but we also get really excited about our collaborations with contemporary composers and artists who come from all around the world.  There is nowhere else in Porter County where you can hear brand new music inspired by an ancient Chinese legend composed by a Jersey native.  We're one of a kind.

And so it goes without saying that we need your help to continue to broaden horizons and inspire generations to come.  By donating to the SSO, you will be making a difference.

A round of applause for your support!
