Southwest Community Ministries

Southwest Community Ministries is in the heart of Southwest Jefferson County, working to unite community partners to ensure the support of our neighbors who find themselves in crisis. 

Our vision is to strengthen the Southwest Community by playing an integral part in alleviating the burden of crisis and poverty in the area.  Southwest Community Ministries was established in 1984, we assist any person needing assistance who lives in zip codes 40272, 40258 and the Jefferson County portion of 40177.

We provide a hand up to our neighbors through our food pantry, our emergency assistance programs, (helping pay rent, LG&E and water), our Meals on Wheels Program (With two contracts delivering more than 60 meals a day to home bound seniors) our backpack program (Preparing more than 250 kiddos for school), our Christmas Program ( Assuring 385 kids had a Christmas last year).  We also provide a hand up by partnering with other program who offer things like health screenings, resume building workshops, interview workshops, hosting job fairs and budgeting classes. 

Every penny donated gets us closer to our goal of not only supporting our neighbors in crisis, but supplying our neighbors with the tools needed to thrive in our community.  Without help from people like you, we could not make such a big impact.

We will do this through our Food Pantry (Dare to Care Distribution Site), Our Emergency Assistance Programs (Helping Pay Rent, LG&E and Water), our MOW Program (With two contract delivering more than 60 meals a day to shut-ins), our backpack program (Preparing more than 250 kiddos for school), our Christmas Program (Assuring 385 kids had a Christmas). We will also do this by partnering with other program who offer things like health screenings, Resume Building workshops, Interview Workshops, we host job fairs and budgeting classes.
