Children who face cancer should have the opportunity to experience as many of the joys and freedoms of a healthy childhood as possible. Too often, these children are consumed with the struggle of dealing with their illness and, sadly, they can miss out on their chance to just be a kid.

A summer camp, planned and administered with the special needs of these children in mind, provides the ideal setting to give them that chance.

In the relaxed atmosphere of Arizona Camp Sunrise & Sidekicks, all children can share their ideas and experiences, gain independence, and also improve their self image.

For children with cancer and their families, these experiences are an important source of strength and support. Having the chance to develop strong, lasting friendships at camp can be truly therapeutic, with benefits that can last a lifetime.

For these children, the chance to be out in the fresh air and enjoy the opportunity to play is a much needed relief from the stress and worry of their disease. There are no doctor’s appointments, no CAT scans, tests, or hospital stays while at camp. For children with cancer, this is their time to be a kid, play and celebrate life.
