Student Program for Academic and Athletic Transitioning (SPAAT)

Vision Statement is to prepare students for the “The Game of Life!”

Our mission is to prepare middle and high school student athletes for success in college, career and life beyond sports.

SPAAT's in-school program currently assists over 500 student-athletes in Oakland. Our participants have a 100% high school graduation rate! 84% graduate college ready and of those, 96% continue on to the college or university of their choice.

A "spat" (common in sports, popularized by football) is an over-the-cleat tape job that supports the ankle, allowing players to better control their body movements and overall athletic performance. Likewise, SPAAT - The Student Program for Academic & Athletic Transitioning -  was created to help student-athletes in their education and careers. With a culturally responsive curriculum that draws from the world of sports, we help them SPAAT up for the game of life!
