SNAP exists to ...

  • Reduce the number of adoptable dogs and cats "put to sleep" at local shelters.
  • Reduce the number of unwanted dogs and cats who end up being dumped, neglected, or abused.
  • Provide a way for low-income families and people to be responsible pet owners.

Similar programs in other states have reduced euthanasias by as much as 75%.

Unwanted animals can pose a danger to our community. Dogs who run wild and unmanaged feral cat colonies are a nuisance and may result in dog bites and other unsafe behavior.

Studies have shown that animal abuse can be a sign of physical, verbal, and emotional abuse of people in the household. We strive to combat animal abuse and work with local Animal Services organizations to detect and prevent such violence.
