With a mission to improve the lives of individuals with special needs and their families, the Joey Pizzano Memorial Fund (JPMF) is a non-profit organization founded in 1998 by Joey's parents.  After the tragic drowning of 6-year-old Joey, Robert and Paola Pizzano created the fund to honor Joey's love of the water and provide water safety education programs for other children and adults with special needs.

JPMF provides networking, funding, and equipment for unique programs and community awareness for individuals with disabilities.  In 2001, the award winning JPMF Splash Program was established, teaching children with special needs how to be safe and have fun in and around the water.

JPMF continues to provide life enhancing educational programs, including Our Special Harbor, a fully-accessible theme park inspired by Joey's love of the Chesapeake Bay.  Serving as a sensory and creative destination, the park encourages all children to embark on a water adventure in a safe zero-water-depth environment.  Our Special Harbor is uniquely designed to encourage interaction and provide families and children of all abilities a place to play and have fun together!

The Joey Pizzano Memorial Fund has recently expanded our programming to include adults with disabilities such as themed swim nights and a JPMF Splash Fitness class. Our next project is the Joy Gala on June 12th. This event is designed to provide social opportunites for adults with special needs including dancing, dinner and games at the Waterford in Fair Oaks.
