Let's put mental health on par with physical health!
We are suicide prevention advocates by way of conversation and education. We believe:
Learn to Save a Life!
Mission
Our mission is to prevent suicide, support mental health education, and promote conversations to end stigma.
Background
A three-time Olympian, Jeret “Speedy” Peterson grew up in Boise, ID, skiing at nearby Bogus Basin, later moving to Park City, to train with the U.S. Ski Team. As an athlete, he was successful at the highest level of his sport, winning an Olympic silver medal in Vancouver in 2010 and capturing the hearts of fans worldwide with his trademark quintuple-twisting triple flip, “The Hurricane.”
While a loving, caring outgoing young man, Jeret also battled with his mental health and struggled with substance abuse; he took his own life in July, 2011 at the age of 29. In the Fall of 2011, in the spirit of Jeret’s own passion of giving to others, The Speedy Foundation was developed by his family and friends.
Our Work
Funds raised are used to advocate for mental health education and hold conversations to end the stigma surrounding mental health issues. The Speedy Foundation also offers mental health trainings; click here to access one of our complimentary e-learning trainings.
