For more than 115 years, Spence-Chapin Services to Families and Children has been dedicated to championing the welfare of children, strengthening families, and supporting individuals in crisis. The organizationʼs award-winning efforts have built more than 30,000 families through adoption and supported tens of thousands more throughout our many program areas.

Our mission is driven by the simple belief that every child deserves a family and that stability and permanency create the best outcome for children. We seek to find loving families for children whatever their needs or circumstances and provide counseling and support for all children and the families to whom they have been born or entrusted.

In Arizona, Spence-Chapin is committed to meeting the unique needs of the community in a variety of ways, including:

Birth & Expectant Parent Services: we offer free counseling, support, and services to women throughout the state who are pregnant or have recently given birth and are facing significant adversity, including interpersonal violence, homelessness, substance use disorder, and other forms of crises. Our services, including respite care for newborns, independent legal counsel, and counseling, provide them with the time, space, and resources they need to make a permanent plan for the future through parenting or adoption.

Special Needs Adoption Program: Spence-Chapin is able to find loving adoptive families for children with severe medical challenges, and has placed more than 550 children since 1995.

Domestic and International Adoption Programs: we offer pathways to adoption for all families, and provide comprehensive training, guidance, and support every step of the way.

International Granny Program:  Spence-Chapin is also committed to the welfare of children living outside of family care, in institutionalized settings around the world. We are able to bring one-on-one care and attention to more than 600 children living in orphanages throughout South Africa, Colombia, and Ghana by pairing them with a dedicated, trained, and loving "Granny" caregiver who helps them reach developmental milestones, form healthy attachments, and provide them with the play, love, and care they deserve and need to thrive.
