Spencer Community Theatre Inc

During this, our 56th season, Spencer Community Theatre produced the show: “LOMBARDI”, originally written by Eric Simonson and based on the book "When Pride Still Mattered -- A Life of Vince Lombardi," by David Maraniss. 

Over the course of the run of the show, one of the cast members experienced a family death, caused by colon cancer – an important theme within the narrative and script of the show Spencer Community Theatre produced. 

The timing of the production (ending of February) and March being Colon Cancer Awareness Month, a unique experience with colon cancer that impacted the cast and crew of the show, and a special friendship between Spencer Community Theatre and the Colon Cancer Coalition allowed for a 
joint fundraising and colon cancer awareness “challenge” that have been shared via social media and with the local Spencer Community closing matinee audience to GET YOUR REAR IN GEAR and get your colon screened! 

Help Spencer Community Theatre support the Colon Cancer Coalition with the Cast and Crew of Spencer Community Theatre’s production of LOMBARDI in our Community Challenge!

Today, survivors, family and friends across America are joining the Colon Cancer Coalition’s grassroots movement to raise awareness and screening rates for colon cancer. The Colon Cancer Coalition is committed to empowering personal change on a national level by bringing understanding, raising awareness and eliminating fear of colon cancer.
“Get Your Rear in Gear” is bigger than just a message for colon cancer; it is a message for all of us to take action, lead longer and healthier lives, and when something isn’t right to get the answers we need.

Together, Spencer Community Theatre and the Colon Cancer Coalition invite you to GET YOUR REAR IN GEAR. Volunteer to drive someone you know to their colonoscopy. Know your body and take notes when something isn’t right. Raise the red flag with your doctor when there is a problem and 
engage them to find the answers. Talk to your family about their medical history, not just for cancer, but also other gastrointestinal issues. Make a gift to the Colon Cancer Coalition to help spread their message while also supporting Spencer Community Theatre, as it will be shared between both organizations to help continue awareness and education within the Iowa Great Lakes. 

Thanks to the approval of the Colon Cancer Coalition and Spencer Community Theatre, the cast and crew of SCT's recent production of LOMBARDI are actively working to get the word out about their community challenge that will run during the month of March.
