Invite new people to Spikenard Farm Honeybee Sanctuary!

For 18 years, we have placed ourselves in service to the Bee, promoting sustainable and biodynamic beekeeping. At the center of this work lies the Sanctuary itself:  a 40-acre farm with 30 honeybee hives, abundant native gardens, and restorative habitats cultivated for the bees and other pollinators. Creating sanctuary is woven into our educational programming, including the extensive Spikenard Biodynamic Beekeeping Training. SBBT brings students to Spikenard for four experiential modules during different seasons in the beekeeping year, offering blended learning with activities to show the insight from our experience, discussion, contemplation, art, and generous observation of the bees.

Will you help new beekeepers join us at Spikenard to learn sanctuary beekeeping?  

In 2023, we welcomed over 175 people to the Sanctuary for classes, open houses, and festivals.  The cost of sustaining each student with programming and healthful food to sustain their hard work equals approximately $120 / day.  

With $10,000, we can offer 28 in-person scholarships to attend full-day beekeeping events at Spikenard.  This amount will sustain many students for a long time.     

If we can steward a scholarship fund for students without resources, we can hold the doors open to all those who strive to serve the bee.

We value relationships above all.  In building a bridge to new people, we make no exception for their economic means.  The time spent in observation and contemplation at the Honeybee Sanctuary is a precious gift.
