The SMA is a key promoter and contributor to the arts in Utah, offering a wide variety of free community programs, concerts, events and exhibitions annually. Juried exhibitions draw in hundreds of participating artists, and thousands more engaged visitors come to have a first-hand experience with the creative and powerful works on display.
Preserve
Dedicated as a “Sanctuary of Beauty and a Temple of Contemplation” by David O. McKay, Utah's first Museum for the visual fine arts houses over 2,500 works. Utah art, twentieth-century Soviet Realist art and American art comprise the Museum's permanent collection within the beautiful Spanish Colonial style historic building and garden. It all started in 1903, with the donation of “Paul Revere” and “Mountain Stream” to Springville High School by Museum founders Cyrus E. Dallin and John Hafen.
Share
As official State Wide Art Partnership (SWAP) headquarters, the SMA is home for visual art educational outreach programs to the schools of Utah. Generous donors enable busloads of kids to visit the SMA and have an inspiring, first-hand experience with original art on our docent-led tours. The SMA seeks to fulfill its mission by refining minds and building character through the fine arts. Help us accomplish our mission of service to the community by donating today!
