Since 1960, Squam Lakes Conservation Society (SLCS) has permanently protected over 10,000 acres of land in and around Squam, safeguarding critical wildlife habitats, ensuring clean water and healthy forests, and providing public access to beloved trails and pristine landscapes.

Protecting land is only the beginning.

SLCS is committed to stewarding each conserved property in perpetuity. Each year, over 100 dedicated volunteers help steward these lands to ensure they remain vibrant and protected. We also work to educate landowners and the broader community about the importance and benefits of conservation, empowering everyone to become active stewards of Squam’s natural resources.

We have an ambitious goal—to conserve 40% of Squam’s watershed—and we need your help to achieve it.
