In 1990, Msgr. Kilian J. Broderick organized a group of Catholic business and community leaders to take on a mission to strengthen families and promote a healthy community by providing senior and affordable housing in the Metroplex. CHI’s first activity was to acquire a 256-unit multi-family community in August 1992. It has since continued to acquire or develop additional affordable housing in the Dallas area to become over 1400 units of affordable rental housing.

A key achievement occurred in 2017 when CHI responded to a call to action of the Dallas Commission on Homelessness, resulting in the creation of St. Jude Center – Forest Lane, which became the first permanent supportive housing site away from central Dallas and the “gold standard” model for others. CHI is proud to offer housing for our community's most vulnerable neighbors, those experiencing homelessness. Today, CHI has three St. Jude Centers located at Forest Lane, Park Central, and Vantage Point, totaling  442 homes and wraparound casework for our residents, with a fourth center in development to be located in Oak Cliff at 1950 Ft. Worth Avenue scheduled to open in early 2026.

Your support will help us continue our mission to help end homelessness by developing and operating future St. Jude Centers.
