Established in 1966 in Boulder City, Nevada just outside of Las Vegas, the Ranch has provided home and healing to more than 1,200 children.  In the 1990's St. Jude's Ranch acquired two additional campuses in Bulverde, Texas and New Braunfels, Texas.

  • 80 cents of every $1 of Nevada programs goes directly to the care of the children.
  • St. Jude's Ranch for Children is licensed by state child protective services agencies to care for approximately 130 children ranging in age from newborn to 21 years old.
  • All of the children are wards of the state.  Child Protective Services agencies have determined where the children were living was unsafe, so they were removed and placed in the legal custody of the state.  St. Jude's Ranch has physical custody of the children.
  • Nearly 50% of our children have been physically or sexually abused.
  • All have been neglected.  They arrive at the Ranch only with the clothes they are wearing-no toothbrush, no comb.  Some infants arrive without socks.
  • We keep siblings together-sometimes living as a family for the first time.
  • We operate high quality therapeutic programs - %100 compliance on all regulatory and state review for 7 years
  • We boast a 100% high school graduation rate
  • The Ranch turnaround story was developedinto a case study by Tuck School fo Business at Dartmouth College and is taught in the MBA curriculum - a model for an entrepreneurial, sustainable, high performing organization focused on achieving its mission and strategy.

Sibling Preservation - We keep large sibling groups together on our campuses, a priority since allthey have left is each other.  More than 50% of our children in care have at least one sibling with them.  The program also maintains sibling bonds for brothers and sisters separated in community foster homes.

Pregnant and Parenting Teens - This program keeps teen mom and baby together, preserving their little family unit by giving them a safe place to live and teaching mom proper nutrition, parenting skills, and job skill.

Transitional Living - We work with youth ages 15-21 years old to prepare them to live on their own in this therapeutic program where they learn independent living skills to become productive, wage-earning members of the community when they leave us.

Early Head Start - For young siblings in our therapeutic foster homes and babies of our teen moms, we have an on-campus early intervention program for little ones ages 6 weeks to 3 years old, operated with our community partner, the Sunrise Children's Foundation.  The goal is to have our youngest residents develop an early love of learning so they are successful academically when they start school.

Supportive Housing - The Crossings at St. Jude's Ranch for Children program provides supportive housing and services for homeless young adults, ages 18-25 years old.  The program includes intensive case management in an apartment-style setting.  Mentored residents set goals to become stable, self-sufficient, and productive members of the community, achieved by connecting them with appropriate community services.  Participants continue their education, are employed and are engaged in the community while striving to master essential independent life skills.  This project is aligned with Help Hope Home plan to end homelessness, the Clark County Continuum of Care, and Ready for Life Southern Nevada initiative.
