The Culpeper Food Closet provides food and personal care items to Culpeper families, individuals, and seniors in need of assistance. An outreach ministry of St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church, it began in 1984 and operates as a full community effort, through the dedicated work of over 90 volunteers from our area. Food and monetary donations are received from local businesses, organizations, churches, and generous individuals. These donations may provide over 3,500 meals weekly for families and individuals, in the town and county of Culpeper. Clients first contact Sam’s Place to apply for a food voucher. Sam’s Place is a part of Culpeper’s Outreach Resource Center, where individuals and families can access information and referrals to community partners.

Many clients do not need help on a regular basis. They may have an unforeseen hardship such as illness, job loss, even a car breakdown, and Families are offered hope and encouragement, with three to four days of meals, which covers three meals a day, plus snacks and drinks, for each qualified household member.

Personal care items are also available.

HOURS:Monday – Friday | 9 AM – 12 PM Thursdays | 4 PM – 6 PM

Thursday vouchers (orange) are being created on-site. Clients may use this voucher once per month. The twice monthly green vouchers obtained from Sam’s Place may also be used, allowing 3 visits monthly.

We want you to know that our volunteers are ready to help, but we cannot do it alone. You can make a difference. Donate to the Food Closet Now.
