Preschool

• We celebrate the individuality of each student, embracing diverse cultural and religious backgrounds, while providing an environment of growth and nurturing based on Christian Values. We are extremely proud of the quality of education, and the level of preparation that are provided to our students, as they prepare for Kindergarten. We seek funding to provide air conditioning for our classrooms, offices, and worship spaces.

 

Local Ministries

• Jim’s Closet is a clothing collection which is conducted year around, followed by clothing distribution to homeless shelters in south San Jose and Morgan Hill. We recruit youth and church members to provide sorting, transporting, and distribution of clothing items to the needy.

• Santa Maria Urban Ministries is an extremely important and effective mission located in downtown San Jose. They provide food and clothing distribution, ESL classes, daycare, a computer lab, an after-school program, and a tax assistance program. This is a mission of the Episcopal Diocese, serving low income and homeless persons, supported by parish donations and by grants. St Stephen’s has been committed for many years to the support of SMUM. 

• We seek funding to expand our support of these important local ministries.

 

Liturgical Worship

• The Episcopal Church is the American branch of the world-wide Anglican Communion, whose roots are from the Church of England. The structure of our worship is standardized throughout the world, and follows ancient Christian tradition. This standardization to include historically based components defines liturgical worship. We are working to modernize the access to liturgical worship, and we are seeking funding to develop easy integration of tablet-based service books (that is, web-based Book of Common Prayer services).
