St. Thomas the Apostle

Saint Thomas the Apostle School is located in the heart of inner-city Los Angeles. In our neighborhood, over 50% of high school bound students will not graduate. Gangs and drugs are a daily presence. Our parents face a very challenging environement to raise a healthy and safe family. Our neighborhood is one of the most densely populated communities west of the Mississippi River and the average income for a family of four is just over $22,000.

The obstacles are great. The reality of families in our community being able to send their child(ren) to St. Thomas depends on the support alumni, friends and supporters. Over 85% of our 300 students qualify for the Free or Reduced Lunch Program and over 90% of our students receive some form of financial assistance to attend our school. A vast majority of our families can not afford to pay the yearly tuition. They can only afford to pay about a third of the full tuition. We depend on outside scholarship support to bridge the gap. Without scholarship support, our school would be struggling and a vast majority of our students would be at other schools.
