Our mission is to, “Provide direction and services supporting individuals and families in north Idaho needing assistance to enrich, fortify and rebuild their lives with dignity."

SVDP offers services that help people return to a life of self-sufficiency. “The Hand Up – Not Hand Out” principle guides us as we help to “Clothe the Naked, Feed the Hungry and Shelter the Homeless.”

In addition to this core mission, SVDP has grown from a clothing closet in 1946 to the largest nonprofit in north Idaho. We offer an array of direct and essential social service programs while also offering a symbiotic referrals program with partner agencies throughout the five northern counties area.

 Direct to our agency, SVDP offers over 25 social service programs to help those in need. From our emergency shelters, community kitchen, winter warming shelter and complement of critical social services support programs, our purpose is to help change and save lives!
