The St. Jude Society of Metairie

SPIRITUAL MINISTRY. Our Society hosts two (2) St. Jude Novenas – one in June and one in October. We also host a Day of Adoration, held on the Monday of Holy Week. We have a St. Jude Prayer Line for those who contact us asking for prayers for people in need of St. Jude’s help. 

CORPORAL MINISTRY. Our Society also provides for the corporal needs of our community. Some of these endeavors are: 

• Baby layettes are provided to the Archdiocese’s Access Pregnancy program; 
• Yearly Thanksgiving/Christmas Holiday Party for our Veterans at the Southeast Louisiana Veterans Home in Reserve, LA. Even during the Covid pandemic, the society gave donations and sponsored several virtual bingo games that the residents played from their rooms. The nurses at the home then delivered the bingo prizes to the residents in their rooms;
• $500 per month is donated to the St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church Food Pantry. 
•  Special food baskets at Thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter are prepared and distributed to the needy
• Prepares Care bags for St. Joseph Catholic Church Rebuild Center to help the homeless 
• Funds and supports other needs in the community through monetary and volunteer assistance as needed

The society built and maintains the St. Jude Shrine and prayer garden as well as a gift shop located at St. Mary Magdalen Church, 6425 West Metairie Ave. Metairie, LA 70003 The community is invited to visit these sites and light a candle or simply pray for their intentions.
