StageOne Family Theatre is Louisville’s oldest theatre company, and across its 66 year history, has introduced more than 3 million area children to the performing arts. With broadly inclusive programming, strategic partnerships, new play development, expanded education offerings and high‐quality productions, StageOne is targeted squarely on its mission as not only the gateway to the arts for the children of this community but also as a hub for arts education that impacts area students from pre‐kindergarten all the way to college. StageOne serves over 90,000 students and families each year.

Play it Forward, our innovative ticket underwriting program, is the most inclusive arts program in the region. Thanks to the support of the Fund for the Arts and a number of wonderful civic‐minded corporations, foundations, and individuals, StageOne offers every child in grades kindergarten to sixth grade in over 20 Kentucky and Indiana counties the chance to see a StageOne show at no ticket cost. Already this year, a record 26,000 students attended our world premiere production of Wiley and the Hairy Man and more than 20,000 students have reservations to see Jackie and Me this winter. Many schools have told us that without Play it Forward, they simply would not have the funds for a live performing arts experience.

This season, 90% of all Jefferson County Public middle and elementary schools will attend a StageOne production.
