Building a more inclusive community:
ONE PERSON AT A TIME.

Carol-Combs-Starfire-Mom-Family-Leader

Since 1993, Starfire has partnered with families and individuals with developmental disabilities, like Down syndrome, autism, and cerebral palsy, to help build richer, more fulfilling lives.

We work to remove barriers, reduce isolation, and increase social connections to build a community where people can be known for their gifts, versus their disabilities, via our Community Builder Network, Family Network and Learning Network. We connect people to relationships to help uncover talents and passions to help those with developmental disabilities thrive in their communities alongside neighbors.

With isolation at an all-time high because of COVID, your support helps Starfire:

  • Deliver 1:1 support and relationship-building counsel to individuals;
  • Mentor families to develop community-based projects that help establish identities exclusive of disabilities;
  • Conduct monthly outreach sessions via our Community Design and Community Story Hour sessions; and
  • Provide community-building training to service, health, childcare, government and community organization leaders,

to build a more inclusive community and world, one person at time.

Your donation will be matched:
DOLLAR FOR DOLLAR.

And, because the need is just that great, every dollar you donate will be doubled, thanks to an anonymous donor, to help us empower more individuals and families with developmental disabilities to thrive!

Thank you for your support of Starfire to fund family projects like:

> Cincinnati Poetry Writing Sessions to encourage written and oral expression.

> Anderson Community Art Collaborative for creating social engagement with neighbors by forging a connection through creative expression.

> Lower Price Hill Collective to support social artists that beautify the neighborhood with exhibits.

> Kennedy Heights Citizen Fest to capture interviews of exhibiting local artists to publicize community Art Center events.

> Hamilton Walking into Friendship Pop-Up Bike Trail decorating walking sticks and painting and hiding rocks for discovery at the tree tunnel.

> Middletown "Hello Neighbor" Nights with socially-distanced outdoor movies, bubbles and kites to keep a sense of community during COVID.

And 1:1 partnerships that help grow confidence and independence, along with training non-profit leaders at social service, healthcare and educational organizations in community-building! And many, many more! Thank you!
