Stevenson House 50th anniversary

In October, we celebrated our golden anniversary of providing independent seniors affordable housing in Palo Alto and the first major property renovation since our founding.

We thank the people before us who formed the Adlai E. Stevenson House, and procured HUD funding for the first loan to build the facility in 1968. We paid it back and HUD financed our rehabilitation with a new 50 year loan.

Our 150 residents are in their renovated apartments with better plumbing, lighting, flooring, a fresh coat of paint and building enhancements.  Our residents are independent and here to age in place and enjoy life.

We thank  all member of our community who helped make this possible — former board members, politicians and community members who tirelessly advocated for a facility, managed the facility, supported us financially and worked to ensure we have a facility to last the next 50 years.

During this season of Giving, we ask you to help provide needed items (VTA Passes) and services (farmer's market) to our residents or help us fulfill items on our Wish List: planter boxes, sun umbrellas, and a two-seat glider.

Please give what you can to help provide needed services to our residents. Now, a few words from Jill Harris, Stevenson House's Resident Representative on the Board of Directors.

Thank you.
