Since the seed of an idea was planted in 2003, our observatory has grown into the educational astronomy and desert nature treasure it is today. Come visit, bring a friend, a classroom, or a scout troop and experience your contribution helping to facilitate hands-on experiences for learning about the desert, earth and sky.

Walk among the planets in our model of the solar system built to 1:20 billionth scale.

Watch the universe open up by viewing the night sky through our 14” Celestron telescope.

Listen to serious astronomers explain where we are in the Sun Solar System, the Milky Way Galaxy, and among the billions of other galaxies.

Contemplate it all in our Japanese inspired meditation garden, a place some visitors believe is a place of perfection.

Enjoy the exceptional 360º view from this 15 acre site on the edge of the Joshua Tree National Park.

Let nature trails guide you through the distinctly unique Botany, Biology, and Geology of the desert.

Be amazed at how the tough plants and animals survive in the harsh desert environment

Marvel at the monzonite granite cropping, the alluvial fan, the Gneiss Mountains to the east.

Learn the history of the first people from 17,000 years ago to the mining sites and mining roads from the last century.

Docent onsite every Saturday from 10 AM to 2 PM.

“What more do you need? A little garden in which to walk, and immensity in which to dream… some flowers on earth and all the stars in the sky.”   — Victor Hugo

Still, there are other essentials your contribution will help us add:

Opticstar PX-137C Color Coolair CCD Camera - A perfect camera for planetary, lunar, and solar imaging. $569.00

Rigel Spectroscope – a whole new way to enjoy astronomy, this spectroscope reveals the chemical makeup of stars and nebulae. $299.00

Celestron Advanced Stereo Microscope – the rotatable head, top and bottom halogen illumination, and wide field eyepieces, allow for excellent viewing of specimens. We need  five of these microscopes. $225.00 x 5

We believe the problems down here on Earth matter, but solutions to them require context that only a knowledge of planets, stars and the universe as a whole can provide.

PLEASE donate to Sky’s The Limit and help us complete the goals for this ‘jewel’ in San Bernardino County.
