STL Neighborhood Foresters

In the unforgiving urban environment, simple issues kill many trees before maturity. Growing the canopy requires us to help address causes of premature decline, a task too big for Forestry to tackle alone.

Neighborhood Foresters partners with the Forestry Division to provide residents tools, training and official permission to help care for city trees. Our goal is to enable Forestry staff to focus their skills on more technical tasks, while our volunteers handle the simple but critical care needed to improve the health and density of the urban tree canopy. We water, mulch, and more. Each time our volunteers gather, they find and correct seemingly small issues - too deep mulch, string tied around a tree trunk, etc - to help and sometimes even save city trees.

You can join us at a Tree Care Blitz almost every weekend; we currently have monthly events in nine STL neighborhoods. It is our goal to expand throughout the City of St. Louis and beyond. We are excited to build new community partnerships and support more residents in creating healthier, happier communities.
