Storm of 28 Memorial Park Coalition Inc

The Storm of '28 Memorial Park Coalition, Inc. is organized and operated exclusively for religious, educational, and scientific purposes. 

The purpose of this fundraising campaign is to establish, develop, and maintain a Memorial Monument for victims of the hurricane of September 16, 1928, that are buried on the site of the pauper's cemetery in West Palm Beach, Florida. 

Funds are needed to construct a Memorial Monument on the site. The planned monument will commemorate the storm of 1928 and the individuals buried in the mass grave. 

Our organization's mission contributes to community building and our future plan is to create a highly technical hurricane education center, used for Education, research, and tourist destination. The education center will display artifacts and information, through a museum, which educates and promotes the achievements of migrant farmworkers and the African American pioneers of Palm Beach County, Florida.

Memorial Monument Fundraising Goal & Project Description

Installation of custom engraved black granite monument, including the foundation and lighting. Storm of '28 Memorial Monument Board Committee has agreed upon a theme - IN MEMORY OF THOSE WHO LIE HERE AND WILL NOT BE FORGOTTEN. 

Storm of '28 Memorial Park Monument 

The picture is an architectural drawing by Edward Golson of the proposed Memorial, which was designed by survivors and family members to honor the 674 victims buried in an unmarked mass grave in West Palm Beach, FL. The site will be a storm education facility and memorial next to the site of the grave.

Monument: 4'-8" x 0-9" x 5'-2" honed 2 bal. Base: 3'-4" x 1'-10" x 0'-6" honed 3 with sawn ends. Letter and image carving; engraving stainless steel emblem 8" stainless steel emblem; lighting.
