Foundation for Students Rising Above

Students Rising Above invests in low-income, first generation college students who have demonstrated a deep commitment to education and strength of character in overcoming tremendous odds of poverty, homelessness, abuse, and neglect.

SRA is Bay Area-wide, with 33% of its students living in San Mateo or Santa Clara Counties. 100% of proceeds from the Silicon Valley Day of Giving will support programs and services for our Silicon Valley students.

SRA works with students from 12th grade through college, and into the workforce. We provide college prep workshops, tutoring, academic guidance, college and financial aid application assistance, mentoring, health care, internships, and career development opportunities.

With SRA's new College2Careers Hub, a free online college and career advising tool targeted to low-income youth, we helping more students than ever to prepare for college and workforce.

Our program works. Students enter SRA from broken homes, family histories of drug abuse, and personal stories of adversity that no one should ever face.

• 100% are low-income.
• 31% are in foster care, legal guardianships, or completely on their own.
• Most have experienced homelessness, abuse and/or neglect.

With SRA by their side, they are able to rise above and reach their full potential.

• 100% of SRA high school students are accepted by at least one four-year college.
• 98% enroll in four-year colleges.
• 90% earn BA/BS degrees within 4.5 years.

SRA alumni are breaking the cycle of poverty for themselves and their future families. Within a year of college graduation, 75% are in career-ladder jobs and 18-20% are in graduate school.
