Suncoast Community Mediation

SUNCOAST COMMUNITY MEDIATION (SCM) is an emerging non-profit recently established in Southwest Florida with the support of the National Association for Community Mediation. A small group of local skilled mediators founded SCM in early 2021. As the first such Center in Florida there are no other Centers we can resource to become operational. Our immediate needs for funding are to train new mediators as well as offer specialized community/social justice training for our experienced mediators. Please help us in this effort!

The mission of Suncoast Community Mediation (SCM) is to provide skilled volunteer conflict resolution services to underserved communities and the nonprofits that serve them. We are dedicated to peace-building through helping individuals, families and organizations deal constructively with conflict.  We strive to empower, educate and build harmony in our community.

We build community by initiating and supporting community peace building efforts; by providing our services without discrimination; by regarding diversity as a community resource; by encouraging open and honest dialogue and striving for inclusion; by recognizing that collaborative community relationships effect positive systemic change; through our belief that the power of dispute resolution achieves peaceful solutions to conflict; and by being grounded in the conviction that communities can be empowered and transformed through mediation.
