A young woman grew up in a house where she was emotionally and physically abused, resulting in poor school performance and low self esteem. When she became pregnant at 18, college seemed unattainable. Then, inspired by her young son and encouraged by friends, she enrolled in community college where she is taking classes and working toward a college degree in education. Though she has overcome the odds by enrolling in college, on a daily basis she faces the challenges of being both a young mother and a student, including an unstable living situation, little income, and persistent doubts about her ability to succeed.
This is where Generation Hope comes in. We are helping this young woman become the person she is meant to be by pairing her with a caring Sponsor who provides consistent advice, friendship, and financial support that goes directly to her educational expenses. We believe that financial and mentoring support will increase the likelihood that she -- and the rest of our Generation Hope Scholars -- will graduate from college. When teen parents earn college degrees, their children benefit, and our communities are strengthened.
When you give to Generation Hope, you partner with us in decreasing poverty one family at a time, investing in education, and making a long-lasting impact on families. Your gift will touch the lives of a Generation Hope Scholar and their child.
