SCCOR's Mission - “Empower participants and alumni of the 4th Judicial Problem-Solving Courts, Specialty Courts, and justice-involved individuals to thrive in life by connecting them to resources and services such as food, clothing, transportation, communication,  and hygiene, etc.” We ensure that individuals moving through the judicial system have the support and services they need to maintain and thrive rather than falling back into the cycle of incarceration. 

100% of your donation will be used solely to support the participants in these programs!

$250.00 donation supports participants in the program with housing and/or sober living.

$100.00 donation will purchase a car seat or toddler bed for a child whose family has nothing and is working towards reuniting the family.

$75.00 donation will cover the costs of a cell phone and prepaid calling card so that the participant can call the daily UA line to see if they have to test that day and allow them to maintain contact with their probation officer or Peer Support buddy. 

$50.00 donation will purchase gas for a participant so that they can get to their treatment, probation, and court appearances.  

$25.00 donation will pay for clothing, hygiene, and transportation for an individual just being released from jail into a sober living home. 

$15.00 donation will purchase hygiene items for three participants who are being released from jail with nothing.

Many of the individuals coming into a Problem-Solving Court have been incarcerated prior to entering into the program. Many of these individuals were homeless and lost everything when they were arrested, including clothing, hygiene, and cell phones. These basic necessities mean the world to an individual with nothing!

SCCOR is unique in the region because it is the only non-profit created solely to support participants and alumni in Problem-Solving Courts. During its first three years of operation, SCCOR has offered resources and services to more than 600 participants, representing 67 percent of all participants served in the Problem- Solving Courts during that same period. With this assistance, many of these individuals have successfully completed their court-mandated sentences, maintained their sobriety, secured employment or education, and are becoming thriving members of our community. 

Problem-Solving Courts can also be known as specialty, treatment, collaborative, or accountability courts and can be criminal or non-criminal courts for adults, children, and families. Problem-Solving Courts were developed in the 1990s as an innovative response to address specific needs and problems of offenders that were not or could not be adequately addressed in traditional courts, such as addiction, mental illness, and domestic violence. Problem-Solving Courts seek to promote outcomes that will benefit not only the offender but the victim and society as well. Problem-Solving Court models have been shown by a growing body of research to be an effective means of reducing substance abuse, managing mental illness, and increasing the likelihood that people will remain in recovery and reintegrate into their communities as productive and contributing members.  Studies demonstrate that Problem-Solving Courts reduce jail and prison costs.

The Fourth Judicial District ( El Paso and Teller Counties) currently has five Problem-Solving Courts;

Recovery Court - which addresses substance use disorder, mental health, and trauma. Participants in this court are sentenced into the program after having been convicted of a crime where there are diagnoses of substance use disorder.

Veteran Trauma Court - is a specialty court for veterans with combat-related disorders such as PTSD, TBI, Depression, and Bipolar Disorder.

DUI Court - is an intensive treatment court for individuals who have been convicted of at least three prior alcohol-related driving offenses

Domestic Violence Court - is the only court of its kind in Colorado for individuals who have been convicted of domestic-related offenses.

Family Treatment Drug Court - is a court for families struggling with substance use disorder and its negative impact on children. The program not only addresses substance use disorder but also works to reunite the family back into a safe and stable family home.
