St. Johns Swapnplay, founded in 2009,  is a nonprofit playspace where families contribute a small monthly fee and volunteer to help keep the playspace clean and organized while gaining access to shared resources. So far, we’ve served more than 500 families. About 70 percent of our families rely on St. Johns Swapnplay to help make ends meet. And of that group, 33 percent rely on government support to feed their families. Our playspace is unique in that each family chooses their own level of financial investment. Some offer work trades, while others choose to give what they can each month. Additionally, we allow  families opportunities to practice sharing in tangible ways. Families donate items to our Swap Room and in turn take what they need. This model not only lessens our impact on the earth, but it also fosters community and trust.

As we work at growing the sharing model we’ve followed for the past six years, we’re excited to imagine what the next six years will look like. We hope you join us in creating a more purposeful space for St. Johns families to play in for years to come!
