Swarthmore Centennial Foundation

At the Swarthmore Centennial Foundation (SCF), our mission is to ensure the continued betterment of Swarthmore—both today and for generations to come. Each year, we proudly award the Ed Jones Scholarship and the Shine a Light Award, support local organizations, and lead projects that strengthen and beautify our community.

Over the years, SCF has contributed to many of Swarthmore’s most beloved spaces. We designed and built Central Park, installed the clock at the train station, funded and donated Gateway Park, and provided crucial start-up support for the Park Avenue Community Center. These initiatives reflect our long-standing commitment to preserving and enriching the character of our town.

In March 2024, we responded to a growing need voiced by residents and began exploring the feasibility of building a public bathroom at Little Crum Creek Park. Over the past year, we’ve worked closely with Borough Council members, Public Works, and the Friends of Little Crum Creek Park to identify the needs of park users, understand site requirements, and plan for long-term maintenance. As a result, SCF is committing nearly $200,000 to fund the construction of this much-needed facility.

You can be a part of making it happen. With a donation of $150 or more, your household will be honored on a commemorative donor wall to be placed outside the new Little Crum Creek bathroom.

Looking ahead to 2025, we’re excited to support even more community enhancements, including a beautification project along Meyers Avenue, a new mural on the wall of the Swarthmore Co-op, and a town-wide celebration to bring everyone together in appreciation of all we’ve accomplished.
