We need your help to continue our work!

Here at the rescue facility, animals not only need to be fed and watered. Maintenance needs to be done and repairs need to be made in order to provide a safe living environment for all the animals that make Swine Society their home. 

In addition to the 45 pigs that live here, we have 2 foxes, 2 racoons, 2 coatimundis, a kinkajou, 3 sugar gliders, 2 bunnies, 4 degus, 2 leopard geckos, 2 bearded dragons, a parrot, chickens, turkeys, ducks, cats, and dogs!

 

Where does your money go when you donate?
Our regular feed expenses run about $300 per week so that is the first expense that donated funding will go to. Another immediate expense is if we have an animal in need of medical attention.

If the above two items are currently funded, your donations will go to fund the following:

1. Winter is coming and it’s time to start buying hay to fill the barn, pig houses, and other animal houses so the piggies and other animals stay warm through the winter. We need at least 20 square bales of hay to do this at a minimum of $8 each bale = $160.
2. We need to make some repairs to our barn, particularly the staircase to the loft so that the loft can be accessed safely. We currently use the loft to store crates and other animal supplies and the staircase is about to fall down. It is not safe to use at all in it’s current state but we don’t have much of an option until we have the funds to replace the staircase.
3. We are in need of adding some pens to segment some of the special needs pigs. These pens will need to be complete with pig houses for shelter so will require fencing, wood, and other supplies.
4. We are always making repairs to the existing fencing on property. Fencing and wood boards or posts are always needed.
5. Our water is run off a well and we do occasionally have issues with the pump or the electricity to it. Running water on property is a must to provide the animals with clean drinking water daily.
6. We would like to build new enclosures for our foxes, coatimundis, and raccoons. Supplies like wood posts and boards, wrapped wire fencing, small tires to make tire swings, plywood, and other things will be needed to complete this.

If you are capable of helping complete any of these tasks and would like to help, please let us know. We understand that some of you would like to donate the supplies and perform the work to know that’s where your supplies and funding is going and we do not see any problem with that, in fact, we’d love the help! We just want to make sure these projects are completed so that everyone stays safe here at the rescue!
